Arson is a deadly and costly crime that devastates Northwest
communities. Arson kills nearly 300 people each year, injures
thousands and causes more than $2 billion in property and
vehicle damage, according to the National Fire Protection
Association.
We all feel the effects of arson. Arson that damages or destroys
businesses starts a chain reaction of events that burden communities
economically through unemployment, higher insurance premiums
and reduced taxes needed to support schools, local government
and other important community services.
